Cryptomator offers a powerful client-side encryption system for cloud data. It encrypts your files automatically, once they are stored in a virtual vault. The application adds an extra layer of security to any cloud service. The best part is that it doesn't require an online registration, so you can use it straight out of the box.

You can pay whatever you want for Cryptomator and you can even have it for free. Its setup package is small and you can install its components in no time, without any effort. The application doesn't have any special requirements and it doesn't use too many resources.

Although Cryptomator is intended for encrypting cloud data, you can use the application to encrypt any files on your hard drive, without uploading them to the cloud. Its functionality is fairly simple. The application lets you create password-protected virtual vaults, which behave like network drives. Anything you store in these vaults will be encrypted automatically. Vaults can be locked at a moment's notice, which makes their contained data inaccessible.

Creating and managing vaults is extremely easy, thanks to Cryptomator's clean and simple user interface. Specifying a storage location and setting up a password is sufficient to create a vault. You can find all your created vaults in a list, on the left side of the interface and you can unlock a selected vault by typing in its password in the larger area on the right.

Vaults show up in Windows Explorer as network drives and you can store your files in them just like in any other type of drive. While having an unlocked vault selected, on the application's interface, you will see the rate at which data is encrypted and decrypted in a graph, on the right side of the window.

Locking down a vault can be done immediately, with a single click. Additionally, you can open a vault in Windows Explorer and copy a WebDAV URL for that vault to the clipboard just as easily.

With Cryptomator, any data you store in your cloud folders can be secured at a moment's notice, without any effort, regardless of what cloud service you prefer.

Pros

Data is encrypted automatically when stored in vaults. It takes only a few clicks to create a vault. Also, you don't need to create an online account.

Cons

There are no issues to address.
